Yahoo! Messenger team launched a new IMVironment this week called "Emoticats".
You can play with the Emoticats by clicking the IMVironment button in your IM window during a conversation. Look for the "Emoticats" listing in the menu.
Once the IMVironment is running, you can use your mouse to browse through the Emoticats gallery that displays portraits of cats in various behaviors bouble click on the cat's portrait and then click the "Insert" button to send the animated emoticat to your friend. There’s also a small Emoticats menu in the lower left corner of the IMV window.

One of the first usages which popped into mind was a product I helped develop, Yahoo! Web Messenger. An annoyance of mine with it is that it had to live in a browser tab, something prone to getting closed accidentally, and also didn’t have any decent notifications of new messages when not in focus. How To Change Skins in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 |
When you choose a new skin it changes the design of the headers of your contact list as well as your IM conversation window (and adds some accents in other areas). There are currently 7 skins to choose from in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.
To change your skin in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, click the gold dot up near the top of the contact list window. It’s located near the minimize / mazimize / close buttons. Once the skin menu appears, hover your mouse on a skin to view it, then click to select it.

Messenger for Mac Beta, you can make free PC-to-PC calls or sign up for a Phone Out account to make calls from your Mac to regular or mobile phones worldwide for as low as 1¢ a minute (see rates). The YCC Cam Cap application allows you automatically saves both inbound and outbound Yahoo! Messenger webcam streams to an AVI file.
YCC Cam Cap performs this by taking individual screenshots of the Yahoo! Messenger webcam control and saving them into a video file on your hard drive. YCC Cam Cap is not selective in the webcam streams it captures but saves any webcam control located on the desktop.
