Yanno, gsenger wouldnt be too bad if you would update it from time to time and invest a little more time in the software! take it from users if youd do a little more work to improve it so ALL of the functions work correctly more people may use it. like you cant view rooms without entering them.. its impossible.. gonna fix it soon~?

Maybe if the program ran to begin with. That's a good function to get working correctly.

Be warned, gay dot com changed their entire site as of Sept 30, 2008; old chat clients were based on IRC(internet relay chat) and may not function well with gay dot com's new chat client.

You know the program would run if you installed JAVA on your system. It is a Java App, ya know. Duh.

I have used chattage for years and as of Sept. 30, it no longer works.
I think the gay.com upgrade was designed to specifically keep people from using other chat clients... it's time someone created a new program that does work with the new configuration.
And, yes, I have Java downloaded, and Chattage does not work after working fine for years.

Chattage is gone forever. Too bad gay.com does not LISTEN to their users, both those that really use, and those that pay.

I concur w/Anyonymous...lol. Gay.com redesigned their site to make it harder for people using chat clients to get into their site. They want to make money and are limiting their features so that you will be forced to. Notice how you can't ignore people on gay.com any more unless you are a premium user...you used to be able to hit 'ignore' with gay.com, but now, you have to pay. It used to be a fun site; it's gotten kind of boring, though.

    Sucks.

I wish someone would update their chat client so that it would be compatible w/it now.

Gay.com has become the most unfriendly site I have found. I know several people in my area that have dropped it and I am inclined to do so myself. It is no longer a user site it is a business site plain and simple!!!

  9. Anonymous // 04 October, 2008 22:36

i too used chattage and miss it. can anyone recommend an alternate site to gay.com?

  10. Anonymous // 05 October, 2008 00:30

gay com will be gone forever. The board of directors got sold on forcing users to buy membership to use the service. All it has done is drive users to manhunt and adam4adam. Only the truly internet addicted will pay for memberships just to cyber with a unknown person.

But.. It did rid the annoyance of a person in south carolina (masterc) who use to log in with at least 10 different profiles and talk to himself about other users just for attention.

I emailed gay.com and told them that if I can't use my gayboi.org chat client with their site, then they lost me as a user/customer. Gay.com was recently sold, and it's clear it's new owners are trying to milk it's gay customers out of every penny they have, through advertisements that are non-stop and annoying. They make PLENTY of money right now, they didn't need to do this. I for one am no longer using gay.com because of this. They can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. I suggest you all do the same to send them a clear message for them to return to their old system. If they see alot of people dropping away from their new crappy chat, they will get the message for sure, cause money talks.

Just wanted to let readers know that if the ad's bother you while you are in a chat room, you can easily prevent them from showing if using Firefox web browser. When the ad shows up on the right while in the chat room, just right click and choose 'Prevent downloads from...." and the ads stop. Enjoy! Though I do miss my chattage.

I emailed Gay.Com today to tell them what I think. They have to be Stupid to have done the changes they did & expect more people to join the site. They should be called "Gay.Coma"
    Here`s what I wrote them.....

    Gay.Com Sucks !

Yes that`s right ! You really suck to have changed the chat and preventing users to use Chattage, GayBoi`s CLient, and any other way to get in the chat other than using the BullShit Java site. This is way too slow & it Sucks BAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you think alienating your subscriber this way will help you - You`re in La La Land ! You are just Tightning the noose around your own Neck.
Google "GAY.COM SUCKS" to see what past users have to say about your Brainy Idea. Then go here to see more...... http://www.imessengr.com/2006/12/gaysenger-chat-client-for-gaycom.html

If you don`t bring back the use of the Clients = I will Also Not come back !

  14. gaytravel // 08 October, 2008 08:28

gay.com has made NO improvements, just made it slower and worse for the users.

  15. Anonymous // 09 October, 2008 12:06

Same it's CRAP!! the new gay.com SUCKS!! we need to do something bout this.. it's plain crap and they just want to make off of you I HATE YOU.. time for a new site!!! or i'm sticking with adam4adam.com!

  16. Anonymous // 10 October, 2008 20:39

Interesting to read. I thought I was the only one irritated by G.com's change. I'm wondering if a new site was started for chat purposes if it would be used.

  17. Anonymous // 11 October, 2008 22:09

I sent them a note saying I wouldn't be renewing unless they brought back the IRC chat; primarily so I can use Chattage.

Be sure to mark your calendars, because premium memberships "automatically" renew at the end of the subscription term.

  18. Anonymous // 12 October, 2008 07:52

Whoever said that the removal of non-pay user's ability to ignore other users was a bad change is dead wrong. Its the only good improvement. Too many immature people abuse the feature and hit ignore, ruin the spirit of the chat experience, and thus it should be a paid privilege feature, not a feature for cheapskate moochers.

  19. Anonymous // 15 October, 2008 08:56

whatever...u guys complaint about anything even if it works. how are they to upgrade servers and keep up with technology if ads aint cutting it. most of you do not work on an IT department, things cost money, ads dont' pay all that much anyways, specially gay ads. i'm a developer and it takes hours and hours of coding and programming to get something going, and it's not just one services, is an internlink network of multiple services to make the system work. get real and stop complaining. pay the fee and be happy you have a way of gay fun...

    drama queens!
    Me

  20. Anonymous // 19 October, 2008 05:41

    uhm..are you familiar with capitalism?

just because IT is complicated and maintaining a service like this is difficult, that doesn't mean it's not still a business that has to be customer focused. if customer's aren't happy, they don't pay, or they don't visit, and they lose money.

their technical people have failed. terribly. probably rushed by management, but failing to push back is still a failure. it needed improvements, yes, but too much was done too quickly

  21. Anonymous // 19 October, 2008 07:37

Gay.com, Manhunt, even Outincolumbus... I stopped paying all those sites. I'll stick with adam4adam... until THEY start charging...

  22. Anonymous // 20 October, 2008 06:08

Most of us just want the service to function, the young attractive guys may or may not be able to pay for membership. You guys will just flounder in a world without eye candy if this site becomes too payment oriented.

  23. Anonymous // 20 October, 2008 06:12

Lets face it guys, gay.com will either be forced to remake itself again, or fade from popularity. Their new site weeds out the younger guys, it's as though they don't understand we don't want to talk just to men in their 50's.

  24. Anonymous // 25 October, 2008 00:17

they changed it cause me and my partner made a irc/java based client that allowed video and audio embeded into the chat as well. we were going to release it oct 25th 2008 took us 2 yrs to put it together and make it weork, now since irc is out were already been converting it to experimental code to get it working. We decided to make this prog cause for a company such as planet out making billions they cant give gaycom a decent chat program like other (TM) use

  25. Anonymous // 25 October, 2008 00:19

LOL adam4adam in works of charging 19.99 a year begiining next year so claims the webmaster, due to not enough people going to their ticker ads

  26. Nitethundr // 08 November, 2008 15:02

I've been a marginal user of gay.com and only found it palatable when I discovered ChatClient and later Chattage. Now that neither of these enhanced programs function with gay.com, I've pretty much left the site forever. I think the money behind gay.com underestimated the the popularity of these client softwares. They actually need the user who cannot afford to pay to keep some balance of interesting people on their site, otherwise it just becomes another pool of trolls and the like using the internet as a one-way mirror. True, they needed to enhance their site to do something to combat the spambots, but I think they over-reached and alienated a majority of their clientel as well. I appreciate the other feedback on this thread, and I'll check-out Adam4Adam and see what it has to offer.

  27. Anonymous // 12 November, 2008 19:29

I'm disgusted with gay.com's upgrades. The worst part is the down time. We pay for service and 85% of the time the system is "down for scheduled maintenance" or not functioning at all with no explanation.

The best part is that Eric Wilson, the VP of gay.com keeps signing these love letters telling us how they're fixing things and upgrading things to provide us with a better experience.

Write Eric and let him know what you think of their performance at:

    eric.wilson@planetoutinc.com

That's his top secret email that I got my hands on. Let him know that you too want your money back for the past couple of months.

  28. Anonymous // 14 November, 2008 20:36

I just did send Eric an email and let him know just what I think.

  29. Anonymous // 15 November, 2008 20:06

I was hoping gay.com's "improvements" would fix the constant spammers in the chatrooms, not that they minded them b/c it made them look like a popular site (a friend who moderated their chatroms told me), but now nothing seems to function right now.

While I don't blame them for wanting to make a profit and successful site, they may have managed to kill themselves with these recent changes.

*** If you are not on dial up and are being disconnected frequently from group chat, please call 1-866-313-6373. I am being told this only happens to me, despite the fact that I have been told by several other members that it is happening to them as well. Tech support put in the case notes that I was on dial up after I told them specifically that I was not. If enough of us call in perhaps someone will document this issue and they will start looking in to the website in stead of blaming people's ISPs.

I am a premium member. I have been for several years. I started out with the java, and hated that. I found one called GCCC, it was ok. I found gayboi chat client. I liked that quite a bit. Then I found Chattage. I really liked that and used it for years. I had lots of control, and it was easy to use. I could save notes on guys, and save our private chats. Now without it, the whole system crawls. I can't save anything. Profiles, and chat bio's take forever to load. Even preview pics of guys in the chat rooms, take forever to load, if at all. And if you actually look at a profile, with the full size pics, Oh My God, Take a nap between pic changes. Also, I noticed when I start the messenger and chat, first this little window appears then disappears too quick for me to see, which is probably spyware. Lately, I am afraid to even allow the popups so the messenger and chat can start, for fear of what it is doing behind the scenes, and it is so slow, and demanding, and patience draining. Why am I paying for such crappy service? Why am I paying for something to invade my system, and slow it down to a crawl? It might be time to cancel.

gay com has taken another turn for the worse. I think a site like 365gay.com should have chat rooms.

  33. scott // 06 December, 2008 17:27

i though this gaysenger was supposed to work with the new format on gay.com .... WTF?

  34. Anonymous // 07 December, 2008 02:31

Just wondering if others have used this client successfully with the new gay.com? Or know of others? I used to use chat client because not only did it not crash the system like gay.com does, but it had a bot message key where I wasn't spammed by bots. I checked out gay.com now, and it seems even worse and crashed my firefox. admittedly i am using firefox2.0 not 3.0, but its not exactly a horrible browser. Anyways, I only go occasionally, but yeah i am not impressed with their "improvements"

  35. Anonymous // 04 January, 2009 21:43

I agree the new gay.com really sucks. If they call this improving the site, they are fucked up. I have never seen a site as slow as the new gay.com. May, I suggest to all of you a new TOTALLY FREE site that is really great. It has only been online for about 2 years now. It is called LifeOUT. www.lifeOUT.com What a great site for chat, blogs, unlimited pics, vids, etc. You can customize your own profile. It is similar to Myspace, but with adult content. Check it out. My profile there is: www.lifeOUT.com/gmichael

I have been a paying member of GDC for years, and just recently converted to a free account. For those of you that have no other choice but to use dialup (yes there are parts of the USA that don't have access to cable or DSL and satelite is too expensive) the new GDC is TERRIBLE, really TERRIBLE. I haven't found a chat client that works with the new and IMPROVED (not) GDC. I've been a member of LifeOUT for a few years and love it. If anyone has options for using a new and improved client to access GDC I'd love to know. Feel free to check out my profile on LifeOUT.com...www.lifeOUT.com/_rainbow63_

Since Gaysenger no longer works, gay.com users have other chat clients to choose from now:
    basepointer.com
    chatlinq.com
    morarchat.com

  38. Anonymous // 26 September, 2009 17:20

ChatlinQ appears to be pretty decent for Mac. I downloaded it and I'm using it now. It's fairly basic, but does the job. Morar Chat looks like it could be good for Windows users.

  39. Anonymous // 27 November, 2009 22:13

I do not like gay.com's new look, or anything about it since the change. They have more pop up ads, more spam than ever, and I have gotten spyware from the "ads" they put up on their site. Gay.com doesn't care what we think, they won't care as long as they make money, and don't expect them to change anything for the better. I have 8 meg internet speed and its still slow as christmas when trying to enter a room or view a picture. I really hate gay.com anymore.
